Major Threat to Security: Dominos leaked data available on  dark web title banner

Data breach cases are evidently disrupting the evolving technology. Ransomware attacks, data leaks have become common everyday phenomenons. Now the hackers targeted Dominos India and data related to 18 crore Dominos orders is available on Dark Web. 

 

Dominos has an active customer base of 20 million , Dominos India owned and managed by Jubilant FoodWorks, made a net profit of 32.58 crores in the last quarter of 2020.

 

The hacker gang got access to the details of 18 crore users, the most sensitive details of users like credit card passwords, email ids, locations, addresses, net banking password  are available on DarkWeb.

 

Frequent users are on the targeted list. People are using the leaked data, to check for last locations, this intrusion in customer data is a major threat to individual security. 

 

The hackers might demand huge ransom in exchange of the leaked detailsPreviously, the same hacker community targeted the mobile application, MobiKwik.

The most sensitive credit card details being exposed on the dark web, is threatening. Other people can use the details for making orders via credit cards. Right after the case was reported, users took to Google to search for the leaked data. 

 

Although firm claims, all financial information is in safe hands the leaked data is now being easily accessed by people for fun. 

 

Twitter users are using hashtag privacy matters to bring the case in light.  Rajshekhar Rajaharia, an active Internet Security Researcher tweeted about the data leak case of dominos. The prominent researcher also insisted that users must be notified by Dominos, to change their credit card passwords. 

 

Cybersecurity is important for the modern era; major Indian companies like Haldirams, BigBasket , Edureka, Rail Yatri have reported data breach cases in the past. 

 

As reported by IndiaToday , Earlier in April, Alon Gal, CTO of cybersecurity firm Hudson Rock had brought the incident to light. He had said that the personal information of the users was being sold by hackers for around 10 BTC. Gal had then reported that the hackers are planning to build a search portal to enable querying the data.
 

It is important for Indian government to strengthen the cyber laws, as these data leaks are a major threat to the expansive growth of the IT sector in India.
