Virtual reality allows people to interact with a three dimensional environment using screen goggles, or gloves that are fitted with sensors. Virtual Reality gaming incorporates a collision of real and the virtual world.

 

Virtual Reality software provided a gleam of hope during the tough pandemic times. VR is now being employed in multiple fields. VR is used by teachers to impart immersive learning education  amongst students. It is being actively used by travel enthusiasts to experience the magic of travelling from the comforts of home. 

 

VR has already revolutionized the gaming and music industry. A lot of music composers are leveraging the benefits of VR to provide the best fusion of live audio and video expierence.

 

According to the statistics, the number of AR and VR devices are expected to reach 68.6 million units by the end of 2023. AR and VR headsets are also expected to yield massive revenue by sale of over 30 million units annually from the year 2020.

The opera will have 15 minute long performances allowing four people at a time to witness the surreal experience. 

 

The attendees will get headphones and a VR headset that will be connected to the computer. Once the opera begins they will enter the immersive reality that will allow them to feel music. 

 

The attendees will travel together to the landscapes of night ,  they will get to experience the scenic views of twilight to hear and feel the chirping of birds. They will explore ideas of connection isolation and collective reimagination.

 

While traditional operas provide character journeys to help an attendee connect with the music , VR opera will use both sight and sound to provide an enchanting experience.

According to Freethink, "Current, Rising" isn't likely to upend the world of opera as we know it — the medium has been around for centuries, and many traditionalists will no doubt prefer the standard format to VR.

 

Still, it could mark the beginning of a new branch in opera's evolutionary tree,said Director Netia Jones.

 

"This isn't the future of opera," Jones said, "but it could be one of its futures."
