Silver Lake to infuse Rs 7,500 crore in Reliance Retail title banner

Subsequent to securing a portion of Jio Platforms, the US private equity firm, Silver Lake Partners, will infuse Rs 7500 crore in Reliance Retail, the retail arm of Reliance Industries Ltd. The infusion will grant Silver Lake a 1.75 percent stake in the Reliance Retail platform, which had a couple of days prior made an arrangement to obtain rival Future Retail. 

 

As reported by ETtech, The infusion esteems the retail arm of Reliance Industries at Rs 4.21 lakh crores. This denotes the second biggest infusion by Silver Lake in a subsidiary of Reliance Industries. The private equity giant had siphoned in Rs 10,203 crore for a stake of a little more than 2 percent in Reliance Industries's Jio platform, in two rounds back in May and June of this year. After this, the digital and retail arm of Reliance Industries represents over Rs 9 Lakh crore of the platform's valuation. 

 

Remarking on the arrangement, the Chairman and MD of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani had stated that he is thrilled at the prospect of expanding the platform's relationship with Silver Lake to enhance the company's groundbreaking endeavors of developing an inclusive association with a great many small merchants while offering value to Indian buyers the nation over in the Indian retail segment.

 

He further added that the platform believes that technology will play a key role in probing a revolution in this division so different constituents of the retail environment can work together to develop inclusive development platforms. Silver Lake will be a valuable partner in executing the platform's vision for Indian Retail.
