Spotify makes music sharing easy through its new features title banner

Music holds the power of transformation. Following this simple notion a lot of companies tried to rake in  maximum profit from the music industry. But one platform that always stood out from the crowd is Spotify.

 

Spotify has around 155 million premium subscribers worldwide. The application’s subscriber base skyrocketed after the year 2017. Spotify’s top competitors are SoundCloud, Pandora, Deezer and TIDAL.

 

Spotify’s revenue multiplied by many folds in the year 2020. The commercial music streaming application generated an annual revenue of 7.88 billion euros(6.76 billion dollars) in the last quarter of 2020.

Spotify is always keen on updating the application to provide the best user experience. In April 2021 Spotify launched its desktop application with an interactive UI design.

 

The Desktop version of the application has a specialized “Discovered On” feature that allows the users to watch the space for upcoming new releases.

 

The Desktop version is based on the scalable Web player codebase that is easy to use. It also has keyboard shortcuts to make certain actions easier.

 

In a blog post Spotify listed its three new updates. The most prominent one is the Timestamp sharing.  Podcast timestamp sharing will allow users to share a particular portion of the podcast with their friends. Previously users only had an option of sharing the podcast link. The timestamp feature will  enable users to share the “selected”part from the podcast. 

 

A single tap on the “share button” will allow the user to share a specific portion(of podcast) with their friends. ”Switch to share” option will display the user’s friend list to enable easy sharing. The shared users need to open the link to tune in to the selected part.

 

Spotify’s canvas feature is magical. It transitions static song pages into video art showcases.This is an enriching experience for the hardcore music fans. Canvas feature was previously available only for Instagram stories.

 

Now Spotify has extended the reach of Canvas to Spotify stories for a better social experience. The users will first get an option to reevaluate the stories before showcasing them to the social world.  

 

Vibing with music together is the modern era’s way  to socialize. Generation Z is staying in touch through social media. It is important for commercial music platforms to understand the undeniable importance of Social media among millenials.

 

According to HT Tech, Spotify doesn’t specify when the new features will be added to the mobile apps, so it seems likely that you should see the feature appearing automatically as long as you have a recently updated version of the app. There’s also no mention of any region-specific rollout, so you should begin seeing the new features over the next few days.
