Introduction

'Amazon’, most familiar term in the business world, but another related term, associated with its subsidiary, about which several people are unaware is Amazon Web Services. AWS or Amazon Web Services is a cloud outlet of Amazon that gives computing power, database storage, content conveyance, and whatever other usefulness that an essential cloud stage offers.

AWS encourages organizations to augment their operational efficiency through the power of data, for example, leveraging SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and SQL servers to collect the data. Servers are leased so Amazon deals with the security, maintaining servers while supporting the easy corporation.

Additionally, AWS offers migration, networking, development tools, and management to its customers and utilized by numerous organizations to make their income higher than some other organizations. The platform has various advantages and is deployed at a huge level that improves the security and safety of confidential data.

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Amazon web services are a type of remote computing service that facilitates us with cloud computing services and that too with unlimited bandwidth and customer support. We can use this cloud computing service for the development of apps or for designing websites or blogs.

In the year 2006, Cloud Solution Amazon came up with the concept of Amazon Web services. The IT management of Amazon worked on the concept and developed AWS. However, at that time, AWS was priced very high and the bandwidth storage also used to be significantly less.

The lower bandwidth storage for hosting resulted in server failure of websites and blogs, if a user bought AWS. Nonetheless, Amazon worked on this issue and resolved it over time. It was then named Webstore but later it was named Amazon Web services.

Nowadays, users get unlimited bandwidth storage along with 24*7 customer support and the quality can not be doubted as Amazon is a brand now. Some of the features of AWS are Flexible, Cost-effective, Secure, Scalable and Elastic, Experienced.

History of AWS

Now, let's drive in history to recall when and how AWS was launched;

  1. The AWS stage was initially introduced in 2002 with just a couple of services.

  2. In 2003, AWS was re-imagined to cause Amazon to register foundation normalized, mechanized, and web service centred.

  3. After one year, in 2004, the first openly accessible AWS service - Amazon SQS - was embarked.

  1. Thus, in 2006, AWS was relaunched to incorporate three services which encompass Amazon S3 cloud storage, SQS, and EC2 - formally making AWS a set-up of online centre services.

  2. In 2009, S3 and EC2 were propelled in Europe, and the Elastic Block Store and Amazon CloudFront were delivered and embraced by AWS.

  3. In 2013, AWS began to offer a confirmation cycle in AWS services, and 2018 saw the arrival of an auto-scaling service.

After some time, AWS has included a lot of services making it a much less priced infrastructure stage that is exceptionally accessible and adaptable. Presently, AWS has specific attention on the cloud, with data centres put far and wide in spots, including the United States, Australia, Europe, Japan, and Brazil.

AWS Services

Amazon Web Services provides us with numerous services depending on the domain's preferences, for example, Computer, storage, migration, management tools, messaging, network and content marketing and delivery, and security or identity purpose.

Now, let's discuss these examples in detail.

  1. Computer- If we have a computing domain or you can say that if we can compute or enlarge our data with other data, so for this AWS provides us with different types of services. These services are-

  • Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
  • Amazon LightSail
  • Lambda
  • Elastic Beanstalk

  1. Storage- If you have a storage domain, you need to store that data. AWS facilitates many such services for this purpose which are as follows:

  • Amazon Simple Storage Services (S3)

  • Amazon Glacier

  • Elastic Block Store

  • AWS Snowball

  1. Migration- Now talking about migration, if we have a migration domain, means if we use that domain to share data from one place to another then AWS provides us with 2 types of services. These two good services are-

  • AWS Database Migration Service

  • AWS Snowball

  1. Management tools- If you have a Management domain, for example, visualize that you have a financial domain and in that financial analysis domain you have all the details of your customer and you want to manage all the details. So, AWS gives you three types of services that assist you in managing all the data very easily. The services are-

  • AWS CloudWatch

  • AWS CloudTrail

  • AWS CloudFormation

  1. Messaging- If you possess a messaging domain i.e. if your users use this domain to send emails or messages, AWS provides four kinds of services to host such domain that are as follows-

  • Amazon SQS

  • Amazon SNS

  • Amazon SES

  • Amazon PinPoint

  1. Network and content delivery- If we have a network and content delivery domain, it means we have to migrate our content through the network. So, for this AWS provides two special services. These are-

  • Amazon Route 53

  • AWS CloudFront

  1. Security or identity purpose- If you have a security & identity purpose domain or if you want to secure the identity and data of multiple users then AWS provides you with 3 types of services-

  • AWS IAM

  • AWS KMS

  • AWS Shield

Advantages of AWS

Here are some of the advantages of Amazon Web Services which will answer your question;

  • AWS permits companies to use the already friendly programming categories, operating systems, databases, and architectures.

  • It permits you to pay for what you use as it is a cost-effective service.

  • You can effortlessly expand or reduce capacity.

  • It offers Hybrid Capabilities, Centralized Billing and management.

  •  It also gives quick deployments.

Disadvantages of AWS

Now, coming towards the disadvantages part. Following are the cons of using AWS services.

  • If you need more prompt or escalated help, you'll need to settle on paid help bundles.

  • AWS puts default limits on assets that contrast from locale to area. These assets consist of pictures, volumes, and snapshots.

  •  It might have some regular cloud computing problems when you move to a cloud. Such as downtime, limited control, and backup protection.

  • Equipment level alterations arise to your application which may not give the best exhibition and usage of your applications.

  3. AWS is accessible in 19 locales, and 57 accessibility zones in December 2018 and 5 additional areas 15 greater accessibility zones for 2019.

Therefore, the following are the factors that are involved in making up the AWS infrastructure are:

  • Availability Zones

  • Region

  • Edge Locations

  • Regional Edge Caches

Conclusion

AWS is an outlet where Amazon offers its cloud services such as databases, servers, computing machines, etc to lease, users can pay as per their use. Moreover, AWS is a safe cloud services stage, giving computing power, content delivery, and another potency to assist organizations with scaling and development.
